Course Details

The AP Precalculus course is a terminal math course designed for students who would like to finish their high school mathematics instruction with AP Precalculus, study Precalculus following the framework laid out by the College Board, and have the foundation needed to successfully take the AP Precalculus exam. This course complies with the AP course audit and has been approved by the College Board. It meets the requirements as outlined in the AP Precalculus Course and Exam Description (CED) and prepares students to score well on the three units that are assessed on the AP exam. A review of function properties, polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric, and polar functions and their inverses occurs. Students are expected to engage in mathematical modeling with an emphasis on exploring and using real life applications.

The course begins with an extensive Algebra 2 review. It will move at a pace that will allow students to dive deep and master each skill before moving on to a new unit. It is taught asynchronously without a live weekly class, but rather with SoftChalk lessons paired with a weekly video lesson. The instructor will answer students individual questions through personalized videos and if necessary, video calls.
